About Serve Mercy — Our Story and Mission, Nashville

Nashville, Tennessee

Who We Are.

A community of believers called to bring God's mercy to the streets of Nashville and beyond.

We partner with local ministries, Room in the Inn, Nashville Downtown Partnership, Office of Homeless Services, The Cookery, and Crossbridgeinc.

Our Story

Born on the streets. Built by God's provision.

Serve Mercy began at a downtown Nashville parking lot called Ragland, where our brother Don worked picking up trash. Amid the noise of construction, traffic, and sirens, he sensed something deeper — a hollow silence, a spirit of oppression suppressing the knowledge of God. His response was simple and bold: he strapped a boom box over his shoulder and filled the streets with praise and worship music.

The music reached homeless men and women camped on nearby sidewalks. Songs like "Every Praise" by Hezekiah Walker lifted spirits and opened doors. Friendships formed. A church connection began supplying nonperishable food and clothing each Sunday — enough to serve twenty-five to forty people weekly. Neighbors donated clothes. The ministry grew organically, rooted not in programs but in presence, kindness, and the mercy of God.

Our Foundation

Rooted in the mercy of God.

"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy."
— Matthew 5:7

From May 2024 to today, Serve Mercy has cultivated deep and meaningful connections across downtown Nashville and its surrounding neighborhoods. Our team has grown to over 20 Christian brothers and sisters — serving, learning, and blessing the homeless and poor with God's mercy through praise, prayer, food items, clothing, and dignity.
